LTEC Lab is pleased to welcome Professor Martin Senftleben for an ONLINE lecture on the EU’s approach to user-generated content platform liability as part of its speaker series!
In 2019, Article 17 of the EU's Copyright Directive (DSM Directive) reshaped the rules on when platforms can be held directly responsible for user uploads that infringe copyright laws. Moving beyond the traditional “notice-and-takedown” model, the DSM Directive shifted platforms to proactive content filtering, typically with the use of automation.
Professor Senftleben will discuss what this means for freedom of expression and creativity, developing algorithmic tools, and the future of digital regulation. The lecture will provide a reflective overview of the European regime, followed by Q&A.
Please Register Soon.
